Sabbatical / Geothermal retreat

Description:

The artist defines “Sabbatical/Touji” as “a retreat away from cities, where you immerse your body in the character of the land.” He creates the “Tale of the Land” from “two holes in the grounds of Atami (Tanna Tunnel and a hot spring spout). Throughout the ATAMI ART GRANT period, he will present some of his responses and prototypes in a variety of formats.

Profile:

RAU is a learning collective with members who based in Japan and overseas, consisting of 29 members including artists, photographers, actors, office workers, architects, researchers and art managers. Through cross-disciplinary trials from the perspectives of each professions, we explore the nature of art which responses to cities in a tangible and intangible manner from both theoretical and practical perspectives. RAU was founded by Teppei Fujiwara and Kei Hirakura, and launched in 2020 with the support of Sho Miyake. This year our theme is “Sabbatical/Geothermal retreat”.
