ATAMI ART VILLAGE
Boundaries are a product of human creation. We encounter and pass over boundaries of ideologies drawn by people without questioning them in our daily lives, such as national borders,property boundaries, and interpersonal boundaries. Should we really not question the various affairs happening at these boundaries? This work creates deliberate disruptions to the boundaries in the ATAMI city (ATAMI ART VILLAGE), located on the boundary of tectonic plates, prompting viewers to
reflect on their awareness of boundaries within their experiences and sensations here, together with the memories of these affairs.
ACAO FOREST
Boundaries are a product of human creation. These human-drawn boundaries on the earth give rise to conflicts and discrimination. People create boundaries to emphasize differences, using all sorts of reasons to highlight disparities. In today’s era, where diversity is accepted, one wonders whether there is a need for boundaries that emphasize differences. This artwork creates deliberate disruptions to the boundaries in the ATAMI forest (ACAO FOREST), located on the boundary of tectonic plates, encouraging viewers to contemplate the necessity of boundaries within their
experiences and sensations here, together with the guiding elements.
Born in Shiga Prefecture in 1974, the artist currently serves as the Chief of the Architecture Design Department III at TAISEI Corporation. He began his artistic endeavors in 2021 and has participated in events such as the SETOUCHI Triennale 2022 and ROKKO Meets Art 2022. His work was featured in the magazine “Casa BURTUS” as one of the must-see 100 artworks in2022. He creates works that reveal the background and reasons behind places and things by adding something to the everyday scenery.
