Inami Yoshitaro
A-Dimension
Atami is a historical hot spring town where the sea and mountains are adjacent. As a guest curator, I selected two young artists who, while adapting to the layered environment of Atami’s cityscape and nature, would challenge the norm with their work.
Hymnra is an artist who creates works focusing on the theme of nested structures, paying attention to the “boundaries” between bodies and spaces. She will present a new installation reflecting her research in Atami. Inoue, on the other hand, is an artist who explores the construction of “painting” by questioning the material significance of industrial products and combining them in her works. In Atami, she created her largest outdoor painting to date.
Curator and archivist. Inami specializes in Archival studies and Media and Cultural studies. He studied photography at the Department of Photography, Nihon University College of Art and went on to the University of Tokyo Interfaculty Initiative in Information Studies where he researched and practised archiving ephemeral materials such as moving images, photographs and prints.
After working at the Setagaya Literary Museum and the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo (MOT), he became a curator at Arts Maebashi.
He also manages an Alternative Space, gives installation advice, and supports artists’ activities with a different approach from that of an “art critic”.
