Meta MIKIJI (imagination), crafted through the exclusive use of versatile SNS formats and driven by “ultra” personal tastes and interests, entangles people, art, history, Atami, creators, and even visitors in its web. Millions of strands of consciousness, finer than the most delicate fibers, pierce through land, people, and time via smartphones, weaving together the ancient, the modern, the future, and even virtual realms into a single, interconnected tapestry.
◆Special Program “META ATAMI -Story of Artificial Technoscape-”
“META ATAMI – Story of Artificial Technoscape” is an art program that explores, from a trans-artistic perspective, the relationship between technology and nature, reality and virtuality, past and future, and humans and non-humans. It juxtaposes technoscapes (technological landscapes) left in Atami with the elements of landscapes (natural landscapes) such as local resources, environment, and history.
The five invited artists will each depict the multi-layered aspects of Atami through various technological approaches, such as AI, VR/AR, and social media. Their reinterpretations will engage with the Izu Peninsula’s geological formation created a million years ago by the collision with the Philippine Sea Plate, the scattered Jomon-era ruins, Buddhist art, the activities of people in a tourist destination, and even the sound of waves that can be heard in Atami today.
We invite you to experience the vision of Atami, as it emerges from the intersection of technology and time.

Graphic designer and antiques collector born in Hyogo prefecture.
Mikiji is a graphic designer, who also collects, compiles, exhibits and releases collected antiquities.
With ‘KOBUTSU (individual objects)’ that let people reconsider its intrinsic value, Mikiji uses the versatlity of social media and do live streams that show off the charm of each piece regardless of age. With a career as a designer and collector, his work covers a wide range of genres.
