Seiha Kurosawa

Title:

Medium(s)

Description:

The word “medium” carries the meaning of something that mediates between two entities. It can refer to the “medium” (material) of an artwork, or it can also denote a “medium” in the sense of a shaman or spiritual intermediary.
Atami can be described as a unique place where social and economic changes brought about by capitalism and the tourism industry have continually circulated alongside the rich natural environment and culture such as hot springs that sustain them. This exhibition “mediates” visitors into the complex circulation of various energies, such as the heat and desire latent in Atami, through works by three artists using the different “mediums” of painting, video, and installation.
