Masahide Matsuda
Born in 1986. Based in Tokyo and Berlin. Masahide Matsuda is an artist who draws attention to events, instructions, and performances that invite audiences to interact and collaborate through his Internet personality. His practice re-examines subjectivity and authorship after social media, and his works have been highly acclaimed for their ability to create new communities by directly intervening in cities and society. He switched from his pseudonym to his real name in 2019 and has been shifting people’s perceptions through his conceptual and poetic practice on celebrities, economies, and landscapes since the network’s infiltration. Matsuda is the semi-Grand Prix winner of the 2016 “Ars Electronica Award”.
