Takehito Koganezawa
Born in Tokyo in 1974. After graduating from Musashino Art University, he moved to Germany in 1999 and was based in Berlin until 2017. From his early work, “Making donuts to get donut holes,” to his recent installations and performances using theater spaces, his relationship with emptiness has been a consistent theme.
In addition to large international exhibitions such as Media City Seoul (2000), ICA (London, 2001), Queen’s Museum (NY, 2001), Manifesta, Montreal Biennale (both 2002), Sharjah Biennale (2003), Yokohama Triennale (2004), Kunsthalle (Vienna, 2004), Asian Art Biennale (2009), Aichi Triennale (2010), he also participated in many European and American exhibitions such as the National Gallery (Berlin, 2006), Museum of Contemporary Art São Paulo (2008), Haus Constructiv (Zurich, 2009), Haus Amwaldsee (Berlin, 2012). In Japan, he has had solo exhibitions at MIMOCA (2009), Spiral (2016), and KAAT (2019), as well as participating in exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo and the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa.
